Perhaps you already knew how you were able to actually function when she came with you on trips or how your anxiety reduced enough so you could go to work, knowing you would return to her wagging tail and happy eyes. Perhaps you are unsure if an Emotional Support Animal can help you but you want to find out.
The fact that Emotional Support Animals have grown in popularity among clients could attest to their benefit and also, like any therapeutic treatment, should be thoroughly explored to make sure it's the right fit for you.
There are risks as well as benefits associated with Emotional Support Animals and our practice is committed to making sure you have all of the information you need and together, we can determine if an Emotional Support Animal is right for you.
When your needs extend beyond utilizing your animal for emotional support but instead you find that you need them to assist you with a trained task, a Psychiatric Service Animal (PSA) may be a more appropriate need.
We will help determine the right therapeutic fit for you and your situation, and help you understand the differences between these two types of support animals and the different rights you have with each.
We do a thorough assessment, utilizing several instruments in addition to the clinical interview, in order to make sure that an Emotional Support Animal or a Psychiatric Service Animal will be therapeutically beneficial for you and help support you on your journey towards healing.
We have additional specialty training in this area which in addition to the thorough assessment, should provide you with extra reassurance that your need is legitimate and warranted should it ever be questioned.
We will not write an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) prescription unless there is an actual mental or emotional disability that warrants it, as determined by our clinical assessment process.
In addition, to qualify for a Psychiatric Service Animal (PSA) prescription, your trained dog will also need to be assessed on it's ability to provide the service it was trained to do.
Note: Your fee pays for the assessment service and does NOT guarantee that you will qualify for a support or service animal letter.
